Monday 21st of August 2017 59 19

They say language is the most direct way of mankind to communicate information and exchange ideas, and therefore serves as a bridge between the different races and people. This was evident at the National Police College of Jamaica which hosted the Closing Ceremony of the Chinese Mandarin Language Course 2016/2017.

The Chinese Mandarin Language Course saw its second Closing Ceremony with the passing out of fifty-two (52) students. Their mastery of the language saw thirty-four (34) graduates achieving distinction in level 1 and eleven (11) in levels’ 2. The theme of the Ceremony “Our Journey…Bridging the Gap through Mandarin”.

Indeed, such a theme is important at this time as the rise of Chinese Foreign Direct Investment in Jamaica is on the rise. Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force are therefore leading the charge in this new frontier. The Director of College, Senior Superintendent of Police Yvonne Martin-Daley stated that the ceremony has highlighted the strong relationship between the People’s Republic of China and the Jamaica Constabulary Force, by extension the Government of Jamaica.

The variety of talents was on display where students made a presentation both in Mandarin and English titled “Crime Prevention” and the graduating class performed a song in Chinese in front dignitaries, family and friends. The Ceremony saw the Guest Speaker, His Excellency Niu Qingbao, Ambassador of China to Jamaica delivery the main address. He spoke of the existing bond and further the relations of both countries

All in all, it the ceremony was a huge success and signified a strong growing partnership.

?????????? ! – All are welcome to join our next course!
